Missouri Tigers Football

The Missouri Tigers are NCAA Division-I Big 12 Conference football team that compete in the North division. The Tigers are the collegiate team that represents the University of Missouri in Colombia, Missouri. Football started at the University of Missouri during the 1890 season and has continued ever since, growing in leaps and bonds. While Tiger football has been a constant at the University of Missouri, the conference that the Missouri Tigers have participated in has changed multiple times. From 1890 to 1892 while the school established its program the team was independent and not affiliated with any conference. During the 1892 season the Tigers joined the Western Interstate University College Football Association. Then after 5 season they disassociated and went back to being an independent team. In 1907 the Missouri Tigers joined the Big 8 and followed it through its growth until 1996 and the inception of the Big 12.

Although there has been changing conference affiliations throughout the history of the Missouri Tigers, the traditions the football program has established are long standing. The University of Missouri Tigers football program has also helped several players develop into standout athletes, many of which have gone onto to play in the NFL.
